The national team of Wales reached its peak of the last decades in 2016. The British came surprisingly far on the European Championship final round in France. The Bulgarians also play in League B of the Nations League. And just like the Welshmen, Bulgaria played its first game in the second edition of this new tournament last Thursday. The South East Europeans seemed on their way to a narrow victory in their home game against Ireland. For a long time, Bozhidar Kraev was the only goalscorer of the match. In the final phase, however, the Irish came alongside, which meant that Bulgaria had to be satisfied with a point (1-1).



The selection of the Bulgarians does not house too many players with special qualities. Georgi Dermendzhiev, the national team coach, has mainly called up players who are still active in their own country. And the Bulgarian competition is of a mediocre level. It is clear that the Bulgarians are building a team, of which we do not seem to be able to expect anything special in the coming period.
