Surprisingly, Tenerife have suffered three defeats in the last three rounds. Tenerife finished with the second best defence in La Liga 2, conceding just 37 goals in 42 games. Only leaders Almeria conceded fewer goals, 35. In the last three rounds, Tenerife lost to Malaga, 0-2 at home, then were beaten by 3rd place Eibar, also 0-2 away. Last time out, Tenerife lost at home to Cartagena. Tenerife was in danger of losing even the 3rd-6th places, which are now fighting for promotion. Oviedo finished in 7th place, one point behind Tenerife.
Las Palmas had a tough start to the year, with many missteps, but recovered towards the end. They haven't lost for 11 consecutive games, and won nine of them, so Las Palmas followed up to 4th place in the standings and finished with 70 points collected.
Las Palmas have five wins in their last five matches. In three of them they have not conceded a goal. The streak of consecutive wins started with Malaga at home, 2-1. They also beat Mirandes 1-0 at home and then Alcoron 2-0 away. Then came Oviedo, an important home win, 2-1, and the last success away to Gijon.
Las Palmas were last relegated from La Liga at the end of the 2017-2018 season. It finished second last, with just 22 points from 38 rounds. Deportiva La Coruna and Malaga were also relegated.
