Spain - Ukraine Prediction, Picks and Taips

In an empty Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano in Madrid, former world champion Spain will take on Ukraine on Sunday evening. The bet is a possible head position in Group A4 of the Nations League.

Spain could call itself the moral winner of the 1-1 draw in and against Germany on Thursday evening. The Southern Europeans fell behind early, but thanks to the excellent goalkeeper David de Gea could continue to hope for a good result. Deep in injury time, left back Jose Gaya pulled the trigger, with which he managed to save the Spaniards from defeat. The 1-1 draw against Germany was celebrated almost as intensely as a victory. That was understandable, because national coach Luis Enrique is busy drastically rejuvenating the Spanish national team. Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, Oscar Rodriguez and Mikel Merino made their debut in Stuttgart, while Fabian Ruiz, Gerard Moreno and Gaya also have only a handful of international matches to their name. Of the old guard, only Sergio Ramos and Sergio Busquets were actually still present in the Spanish starting eleven, although it is questionable whether they will be in the base of La Roja against Ukraine again. Besides the sporting honor and some prize money, there is actually nothing at stake in the Nations League, while Enrique of course also wants to keep the club coaches a friend. I therefore expect another Spanish team full of surprises on Sunday evening, in which Eric Garcia and Adama Traore can hope for their debut.

Ukraine could also look back with a good feeling on its first international match of 2020 on Thursday evening, because Switzerland was beaten 2-1 in Lviv. The star players Andriy Yarmolenko and Oleksandr Zinchenko scored the Ukrainian goals. Ukraine is the underdog on Sunday night, but it does have the weapons to hurt Spain. The yellow-blue remained unbeaten during the last European Championship qualifying series, and currently have much more international experience than the Spaniards. Especially in midfield, the Ukrainians with Yarmolenko (87 caps), Yevhen Konoplyanka (86) and Taras Stepanenko (58) are well equipped. An additional advantage for national coach Andriy Shevchenko is that the Ukrainian Premier League and the Belgian Jupiler Pro League have already started (six players are active in Belgium). LaLiga is still enjoying its summer break, so Ukraine is most likely a lot fitter than Spain.
