Slovakia - Czech Republic Prediction, Picks and Taips

After having been inactive for almost 9 months, international football is also starting again. Arch rivals Slovakia and the Czech Republic meet in Division B of the Nations League.

The last game that Slovakia played was in November 2019. At that time the Central Europeans had a small chance of making it to the European Championship, but because Wales managed to win its last group match, the Welsh and Croats went to the European Championship that had not yet been played. Since the last international match, it can be reassured that the national team has undergone a considerable transformation: former employees such as Martin Skrtel, Tomas Hubocan, Miroslav Stoch and Marek Hamsik (who were all there at the World Cup meeting between the Netherlands and Slovakia at the 2010 World Cup) are no longer there, just like other experienced players such as Adam Nemec (ex-Willem II) and Robert Mak. The young generation should slowly take over in the selection of the Czech national coach Pavel Hapal. The new guard includes Eredivisie players such as Branislav Ninaj (Fortuna Sittard), Robert Bozenik (Feyenoord) and Matus Bero (Vitesse). Stanislav Lobotka (Ex-Ajax, now Napoli), Martin Skriniar (Inter) and Ondrej Duda (Hertha BSC) are among the best players. Incidentally, the meeting between the two countries is a repeat of the previous edition of the Nations League. Then Slovakia lost both games and finished third and last in a group with Ukraine.

We will see the Czech Republic at the European Championship next summer. Unlike its neighbor, the Czech Republic did finish second, behind England. The group was also not very complicated with Bulgaria, Kosovo and Montenegro as opponents. The glory days of Czech football, with players such as Pavel Nedved, Tomas Rosicky, Jan Koller and Petr Cech, are long gone. The current source from which trainer Jaroslav Silhavy must draw mainly consists of players from the Czech league (with Slavia Prague as purveyor to the court), players from middle-class players from stronger leagues. Patrick Schick, the RB Leipzig striker, is the exception that proves the rule. As mentioned, the Czech Republic has good memories of its neighbor. In the previous edition, the Czech Republic won 1-2 in Bratislava and 1-0 at home. Still, this wasn't enough to finish at the top of the pool and thus force promotion to Division A, as Ukraine was too strong for Silhavy's side.
