Qarabag (Aze) - Molde (Nor) Prediction, Picks and Taips

In the same round as AZ, Qarabag and Molde FK meet each other in the championship route. Which team can advance to the play-offs?

Qarabag FK is Azerbaijan's top club. The team that finishes its matches in the capital Baku took its seventh national title in a row last summer. In recent years, Qarabag has almost no opposition in its own country anymore. After twenty games, the competition was halted because of Corona, but in that number of games Qarabag had already played an eight-point lead over closest pursuer Neftci Bakoe. Due to Azerbaijan's low UEFA ranking, Qarabag had to start in the very first qualifying round of the Champions League. In the first preliminary round, Macedonian Sileks was a simple win (4-0), but the next round, also over one match, the Moldovan Sheriff Tiraspol offered more resistance. In Baku it became 2-1, partly due to a penalty from former NAC player Uros Matic. Qarabag may not be a big name in Europe, but the team has been active in a European group stage for five seasons in a row. In the 2017/2018 season, the team even played in the group stage of the CL and held Atletico Madrid twice to a draw. Last season, Qarabag finished third in a Europa League with final winners Sevilla, APOEL Nicosia and Dudelange.

Molde FK is the reigning champion of Norway, where the seasons follow the calendar. In 2019, Molde was crowned Norway's best team for the fourth time in the past decade. The title seems to be lost in 2020, because with 34 points from 17 points, the team, which is best known as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's club as a player and as a manager, is already 14 points behind the unapproachable Bodo / Glimt. Like Qarabag, Molde had to survive two preliminary rounds to get here. In the first preliminary round, the Norwegians had no trouble with the Finnish KuPS and in the second preliminary round, Slovenian Celje was narrowly defeated 1-2, after a 1-0 deficit. However, unlike Qarabag, Molde is rarely present in a group stage. The last time Molde managed to advance to the group stage was in the 2015/2016 season when the team won a group with Ajax, Fenerbahce and Celtic. For the past two seasons, things went wrong in the last preliminary round of the Europa League, the round where the loser of this meeting will enter.
