Preston - Brighton Prediction, Picks and Taips

The Carabao Cup game between Preston North End and Brighton & Hove Albion is scheduled at Deepdale on Wednesday evening. The last time these two clubs faced each other was in 2017 when Preston North End managed to win 2-0. However, the visitors from South East England are making a good impression this season and will not want to lose again in Preston.

Preston North End has the first point in the Championship. The Lilywhites lost 0-1 to Swansea City in the first round at home. On Saturday afternoon, the second league game was scheduled for Alex Neil's team: Preston had to visit Norwich City. On paper a tough game and the home team was also the favorite on Carrow Road. Contrary to expectations, however, Preston North End managed to pull a 2-2 draw from the fire. The Lilywhites took the lead twice and Preston played a fine game against the relegant. The number of wins of Preston North End in the Championship is therefore still at zero. In the Carabao Cup, Neil's team already managed to triumph once: Derby County was beaten 1-2 last week. Now it must be added that Preston had the necessary luck against the Derby of Phillip Cocu, because the Dutch coach saw how his own player and also fellow countryman Mike te Wierik got red ten minutes after the break. Derby also had to concede the second goal in the extra time from the penalty spot. Preston certainly couldn't complain about luck. Against Brighton, Neil's team will have to play better football than it did against Derby, although the league match with Norwich City offers the necessary perspective for Preston.

Brighton was the last guest on Deepdale in 2017. At the time, The Seagulls were down 2-0 at Preston North End. A few months later, Brighton was promoted to the Premier League under Chris Hughton and it still plays there. Hughton's contract was not renewed at Brighton last year, as the resort club saw more salvation in Graham Potter's thinking. 45-year-old Potter managed to keep Brighton in the Premier League last season and there is really an idea behind his way of playing. That does not mean that Brighton wins every match, because the player material is simply too mediocre for that. Only sometimes everything falls into place. That was also the case last Sunday when Brighton played the away game at Newcastle United. Brighton played attractive football at St. James' Park and recorded a 0-3 victory over Newcastle, including two goals in the first ten minutes by Neal Maupay. Aaron Connolly brilliantly scored the third goal for Brighton in the 83rd minute, which was the only blemish on the game that saw Yves Bissouma leave with a red card just before time. A few days earlier, Potter's team also won convincingly in the Carabao Cup against Portsmouth 4-0, while Brighton suffered an unjust 1-3 defeat against Chelsea in the league last Monday. The game of Brighton in the first weeks of the season is certainly appealing and offers confidence.
