Oostende - Anderlecht Prediction, Picks and Taips

Ostend did not start the competition very well with only one point from three games. Anderlecht are not doing very well either, but there are other top teams that are worse off. With five points it can still maintain a fifth place. Can they hold that place for another match day?

Ostend has not had the start they expected. With one point out of nine, Alexander Blessin, new coach of Ostend, scores below par. They only managed to score one goal in three games. That is not at all in line with the promise that Blessin had made at the start of the season: "The club expects attacking football with many young players. That is what I have always done for the past 8 seasons." We don't see much of that for the time being, but he may still need time to adapt the squad to the German way of playing football. The match against Sint-Truiden actually sums up what is missing at Ostend: offensive violence, scoring ability and calmness. For the goal, the latter aspect was absent, unnecessarily killing potential chances, as well as a penalty. In addition, many boys crossed the line with their mistakes. In this way many players will end up on the penalty bench, such as Jelle Bataille, who will have to follow the next match against Anderlecht from the stadium. No fewer than seven yellow cards were taken by Blessin's team, two of which were for Bataille. This will have to be worked on.

There is really only one word that can describe Anderlecht's situation: disappointing. You could also opt for frustrating. It is now two games that Anderlecht will be surprised in the last minutes of the game. Against Mechelen it were two goals in minutes 83 and 85, while against Moescroen it was no less than minute 93 when it got a goal. It could have been a nice start with the maximum of the points, but unfortunately the defense could never hold up to the end. Vincent Kompany should still manage to keep the zero against Ostend, albeit for the first time this season. With Hendrik van Crombrugge as goalkeeper and captain, he naturally has a top goalkeeper in the goal to achieve that goal. The question is whether the boys will hold out for that. A good keeper is of course only one aspect of a clean sheet. Yes, he gets the credits, but the defense also plays a big part in this, as does the way the rest of the team presses and pushes the other team away. Still a lot of things to work on for Kompany.
