Kortrijk - Antwerp Prediction, Picks and Taips

Kortrijk is still in sixth place in the ranking after six match days, even after losing to Standard. They currently have two points more than Antwerp, which this weekend could not drag more than a draw against Eupen. Is Antwerp climbing above Kortrijk?

You have to say that it was a weak match from both sides about the match between Kortrijk and Standard. Kortrijk, however, stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of underperformance. After ninety minutes of playing football they had only two (!) Goal attempts. Arnaud Bodart, the goalkeeper of Standard, never even had to stop the ball. Well, once he should have stopped Ilombe Mboyo's ball ... However undeserved it would have been, Kortrijk could have played right. Unexpectedly, a very debatable phase occurred at the end of the match. Bodart tackled a passing Michiel Jonckheere quite showy, who also went quite showy to the ground. For such a phase, I think the ball is more likely than not on the dot, but the referee decided to give Jonckheere (also after review with the VAR) yellow for schwalbe. Captain Hannes Van der Bruggen was sober after the game: 'Standard has not stolen this victory. We knew that a transfer to Liege would not be an easy match anyway. In the first half we could not keep the ball in the team sufficiently, although we did score a very nice goal. So we were back in the game, maybe against the grain of the game. In the second half we got into the game a bit better, with some small chances. In the end there is then a debatable phase with the fault on Jonckheere. Everyone will have their own thoughts about that. This is our second loss of the season, which is not bad in itself. Antwerp awaits next week, that will be another heavy bill.

Under new coach Ivan Leko, things are still a bit difficult at Antwerp. Offensively, there is not enough daring in the game, so they crawl back too often while that is actually not necessary. They have already conceded a goal in five of the six games. That is too much for a team like Antwerp with a coach like Leko. This will probably improve as the automatisms and confidence progress. The player who put the match in a fold for Antwerp was Junior Pius. After coming in against Sint-Truiden last week, he was now assigned a starting place again. He thanked his coach with two goals, Antwerp's only two goals against Eupen. Antwerp may even have earned the three points in the end, as they had almost completely outplayed Eupen in the second half. However, they were awakened too late, because there was no time for a third goal. All in all, Leko was satisfied with the game, but you noticed that there was still a slight disappointment with the performance of his team in the first half: “We showed two different faces today. We have played well in the past three games and also trained well in the past week. Everyone was confident that we would continue our positive performance. But in the first half, we may have had a little too much confidence. The ball went around too slow and we knew that Eupen would be well organized and would be lurking on the counter. We created almost nothing in the first half. After the 0-2 I suddenly saw another team. We scored two goals in half an hour, with some luck, but we were threatening and had even more chances. I expected a lot more from it, but we did show character and mentality.
