Finland - Wales Prediction, Picks and Taips

After a break of almost ten months, it is finally time for international football again this week. In group B2 of the UEFA Nations League, Wales gets on a plane to Helsinki, to compete there against the difficult Finland. Gareth Bale and associates are a light favorite in the eyes of the bookmakers, but is that right?

With a 58th place in the FIFA world rankings, Finland is by no means a protagonist on the global football scene, but that could soon change. Thanks to second place behind group winner Italy in the European Championship qualifying, we will see the country in action at the European Championship next year. It is the very first time in history that Finland has qualified for a major tournament. The Finnish national team is therefore celebrating heydays. It is very good what national coach Markku Kanerva achieves, because the selection of Finland is frankly not that special. The absolute star player is attacker Teemu Pukki, who relegated from the English Premier League with Norwich City last season. Goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky (Bayer Leverkusen) also has plenty of experience at the highest level. Furthermore, (former) Eredivisie players such as Thomas Lam (PEC Zwolle) and Tim Sparv (AEL) also received an invitation, and Genk defender Jere Uronen is also present. These are of course not international toppers, although they know how to compensate for their technical shortcomings based on fighting spirit and team spirit.

When you say Wales, you say Gareth Bale of course. He was of course fantastic at the European Championship in 2016, when he managed to guide his country to the semi-finals in an unparalleled way during her European Championship debut. Nowadays, however, the Real Madrid attacker mainly stands out with crazy antics in the stands, and even let the Champions League squatter shoot against Manchester City to play golf. Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order. Despite the lack of competition rhythm, Bale is still with the national team. National coach Ryan Giggs will most likely just line him up on Thursday evening, as Wales is currently struggling with a slight injury wave. Aaron Ramsey, David Brooks, Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor and Sam Vokes are all in the rag basket. In particular, the lack of sixty-fold international Ramsey (Juventus) is a bitter pill. Ben Woodburn and Brennan Johnson were selected as replacements. Giggs, however, will have to puzzle in Helsinki, although he will also approach the Nations League mainly as a kind of preparation for next year's European Championship.
