In the first half of the season there was a point in Budapest after a scoring draw. At home, the team of head coach Mircea Lucescu can now afford a home draw, but may not concede more than two goals. At the dress rehearsal before the important group game against the Magyars, Dynamo Kiev won an away win at FK Mariupol last weekend.

Those defensive qualities could not be substantiated so far in the premier class.

This was always surprising, because in the previous group game, Lucescu's team defied the supposed favorites from Turin and the much stronger Italian offensive over long stretches.

In the first half of the season Ferencvaros Budapest fought their way back after a strong second half against Dynamo Kiev and took an important point with them. As the current table constellation in Group G of the Champions League shows, the Magyars still have a realistic chance of continuing their international adventure in the Europa League.

But the "Zöld Sasok" have to win the away game in Kiev. Since two goals were conceded in the first leg, a division of points is only sufficient if the green-whites from Budapest score at least three goals. If you consider how stable the Ukrainians' defensive was in this competitive season, that scenario is rather unrealistic.
 
The Magyars already showed at the group game in Turin that there is definitely potential for surprises. Sergiy Rebrov's team defied the big favorites for long stretches, but conceded the goal in stoppage time, which led to the 1: 2 away defeat.

In comparison, the last group game against FC Barcelona showed a poor performance. After all, the green-whites were already 3-0 down in the first half. Most recently, the “Zöld Sasok” regained their self-confidence in the domestic league and expanded their lead in the Hungarian OTP Bank League.

There Ferencvaros is at the top of the table with a record of 9-2-0 and a goal difference of 24: 5, seven points ahead of title competitor MOL Fehervar. Compared to the Ukrainians, who had to complain about five failures on Tuesday evening, Ferencvaros Budapest goes to the showdown in Kiev with the best cast.

Last weekend Sergiy Rebrov had spared numerous top performers for the important final group game in the premier class. The double burden should therefore not be felt among the green-whites. Nevertheless, Dynamo Kiev vs. Ferencvaros Budapest dared to make a forecast on the guests, after all, the international experience speaks for the blue-whites from Ukraine.
