Cagliari - Lazio Prediction, Picks and Tips

The 16th round of Italian Serie A will end on Monday evening in Sardinia. Hardly a football fan of the Italian Serie A could have imagined before the start of the season that this duel deserves the title “Top game of the round”! However, the two best-form teams of the past few weeks are facing each other - Cagliari welcomes Lazio to the chase duel! Both teams can look back on a historic autumn. Since the introduction of the three-point rule, neither Cagliari nor Lazio Rome had more points on the credit side than they currently have! The Sardinians are in surprising fourth place in the table with an outstanding 29 points. The guests from the capital have already collected 33 points and are therefore within walking distance of the top duo Inter Milan and Juventus Turin. Given these numbers and the recent results of both teams, there should be no shortage of confidence. Although the home side have been unbeaten for 13 league games, the host is considered a clear outsider. Depending on the betting provider, odds of over 4.00 will be offered on Monday evening in a duel between Cagliari and Lazio Rome! The game starts in the Sardegna Arena at 19:45 p.m.

In the 2008/09 season, Cagliari Calcio reached ninth place in the Italian football upper house. This was the only season in which the Sardinians could achieve a single-digit place in Serie A. The current boom of the master from 1970 can undoubtedly be described as absolutely surprising. Last year, the sardinians were ranked 15th in the final accounts. The team of Rolando Maran got an absolute leader in the summer of 2019 with Radja Nainggolan. A deal that caused a lot of surprise. However, the reason for the ex-Inter player's return is a sad one - his wife, who comes from Sardinia, has cancer. So that they can live in their home country, Nainggolan foregoes most of his salary. Nainggolan is the central figure in the game of the Sardinians, but otherwise the club had a knack for new signings. After two opening defeats against promoted Brescia and Nainggolan's ex-club Inter Milan, the Maran team wrote for the first time on Matchday 3 in a 3-1 away win in Parma. Since September 15, 2019, Cagliari is now without defeat. In 13 league games in a row, at least one point was won. The last time the club had a long phase of games without defeat in 1972 with 14 games in a row. Between Cagliari and Lazio Rome, odds of just over 2.00 are offered for the prognosis for a new point win. As already mentioned at the beginning, the 29 counters represent a historic record since the three-point rule was introduced. With currently 31 goals after 15 league games, Cagliari was even able to set another club record. The Sarden have never had more goals in 15 league games. In the most recent seven games, Joao Pedro (ten goals this season) & Co. have scored no less than 19 goals. The results are all the more impressive due to the personnel worries of the past weeks. Rolando Maran had to change over and over again due to injuries and suspensions. However, this had no effect on success! Against the Romans no less than seven players will fail.

The reigning winner of Coppa Italia can now focus on domestic competitions. On Thursday evening, Simone Inzaghi's team had to cope with the Europa League group stage. The chances before the last game were only of a theoretical nature and Lazio was dependent on shooting support. Since this did not happen anyway, the 0-2 defeat at Stade Rennes was not relevant in the fight for the winter. Internationally, however, the Inzaghi team certainly failed to meet expectations. This cannot be said at the national level. 33 points after 15 games mean the best point recovery since the introduction of the three-point rule and with 36 goals already scored, Lazio has not only set the league's best offensive, but also a new club record. Ex-Dortmund flop Ciro Immobile, who has already scored 17 (!) Goals, is outstanding. Last weekend, the international was without a goal for the first time since September 25. In the 3-1 home win against champions Juventus Turin he even had a great chance from the penalty spot point, but failed due to the Polish goalkeeper Szczesny! The man of the game was the Spaniard Luis Alberto, who presented both the equalizer and the leading goal and thus already has twelve assists this season - best in the top five leagues in Europe!
