Brighton - Arsenal Prediction, Picks and Tips

If you look purely at the Premier League rankings, you could argue that the game between Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal on Tuesday evening can be labeled as a relegation match. Both teams see it differently themselves, but will do everything they can to win their last game of this calendar year.

At Brighton & Hove Albion they will secretly worry a bit. The resort club finished well above the relegation mark in the Premier League last season, but this season Graham Potter's side has a bit more difficult. Brighton are in 16th place in the Premier League and are just two points ahead of the first club under the relegation line. On the other hand, we must not set the bar too high either: Brighton does not have the player material to play it safe at an early stage. The problem at Brighton is currently that the club mainly draws a lot. Only West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United have won fewer duels than Brighton, which, surprisingly enough, shared the points with the opponent in seven of the fifteen league matches. This is also the case in the last three games. In the duels with Fulham (0-0), Sheffield United (1-1) and West Ham United (2-2), Potter's team only managed to take three points. Especially the points divisions against Fulham and Sheffield United Brighton could not use well, because those teams are competitors of The Seagulls on paper.

How happy they will be at Arsenal that the calendar year is almost over. 2020 was certainly not the year of Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. The North Londoners may have won the FA Cup and the Community Shield, but that really says it all. Especially in the Premier League, it was a year to quickly forget for Arsenal. Last season, The Gunners finished disappointingly in eighth place and this season is even worse. Currently, Arsenal is even in 15th place in the Premier League and the Championship is closer than the Europa League. On Boxing Day, the North Londoners did book an important victory over city rivals Chelsea. At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal was defeated 3-1 because Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka, among others, were brilliantly accurate. Especially the goal of Saka - who really intended it that way - was there. The victory over Chelsea gives Arteta and his team some air again. It is important that Arsenal also immediately booked a result against Brighton on Tuesday evening, because then it immediately takes some steps up the rankings. After all, a loss of points in South East England will keep the newspapers packed on Wednesday morning about the performance of Arteta's team.
