AS Roma - Juventus Prediction, Picks and Taips

The management of AS Roma made a capital mistake last weekend, as a result of which the first point of the new season was scrapped. It won't be easy to wash away this disappointment as champions Juventus comes to visit this weekend. What can we expect from the first topper of the season? AS Roma finished fifth last season but will have a tough job to match that performance. While teams like AC Milan and Napoli - last season's numbers six and seven - have only progressed in the past six months, the Romans do not seem to have gotten any stronger. Creative talent Nicolo Zaniolo sustained a serious injury for the second time this calendar year and will be out of circulation for at least six months, goalgetter Edin Dzeko was missing last weekend because he was associated with Juventus. Because the transfer seems to have been canceled for the Bosnian, he will in all probability finish the season in Rome, which is a good thing given the lack of scoring power in the capital.

The first game of the season did not go as planned either. After half an hour of play, Hellas Verona should have taken a lead when Lubomir Tupta got a life-sized chance but shot weakly. Just before half time the Romans got away well again when Adrien Tameze hit the bar. In the second half, Hellas and AS Roma both hit the bar again but the glasses position remained on the scoreboard. Trainer Paolo Fonseca will not be satisfied with the draw in Verona and to make matters worse, there was more bad news on Tuesday. The club management had to register all players over 22 years old before the start of the season, but had forgotten to put the 23-year-old Amadou Diawara on the list of 25 players. The player from Guinea was in the starting line-up but was not eligible to play, so Hellas Verona was awarded a regulatory 3-0 victory. As befits a real Serie A soap it doesn't stop there. Roma secretary Pantaleo Longo who is responsible for the error has now resigned and, according to SportItalia, has a new job at Verona, the club that got the three points for his blunder.

National champion Juventus opened the hunt for the tenth title in a row with a simple victory over Sampdoria. Andrea Pirlo started with a number of new names in the starting eleven. For example, the 21-year-old Gianluca Frabotta was allowed to start. The youngster made his debut in the last game of last season and is now part of the main force. Purchases Weston McKennie and Dejan Kulusevski made their basic debut, the latter being particularly notable. The Swede quickly found his way in Turin and scored the opening goal in the thirteenth minute. The score was expanded via Leonardo Bonucci and Cristiano Ronaldo and the first three-pointer of the season was taken. Despite the good start of Kulusevski and Paolo Dybala returning from an injury, Juventus was eagerly looking for a new striker last week. For a long time this seemed to be Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan took a language test in Perugia to get an Italian passport and passed. Juventus dropped out anyway because it would take too long to add Suarez to the selection, and it later turned out that there had been fraud in the test. The striker would have known the questions in advance and so his diploma was annulled. In the end, the choice fell on Alvaro Morata, who played 63 league matches for Juve between 2014 and 2016 and scored fifteen times.
