Willem II is the current number seventeen in the ranking. Few would have expected such a low ranking prior to this season. Of course, a repeat of last season's performance, when Willem II finished number four, was not to be expected, but a battle against relegation is almost the other extreme. At the moment, almost nothing works for the Tilburg team, who only managed to score nine points from fifteen games.



Last Saturday it went wrong in the away game at VVV-Venlo. Initially, things looked fine for the Tricolores, who played a strong first half and went to rest with a 0-1 lead. After the break, however, Willem II played very tame, which caused the problems to be called off on themselves. Two goals against led to the 2-1 final score. Compared to that match, trainer Adrie Koster can again use midfielder Pol Llonch, although the coach did not want to reveal whether the Spaniard will also start. FC Groningen was very close to its ninth league victory of this season last Friday. The Trots van het Noorden played another solid game on a visit to Utrecht. They took a 0-2 lead, which alone was not enough for a victory. Due to a late equalizer, the Groningers had to settle for a point. A victory might have been a bit too much of a good thing, coach Danny Buijs more or less admitted after the match in De Galgenwaard.



With 27 points from fifteen games, the green and white are doing very well for the time being. Buijs and his team play a kind of football that is rare in the Eredivisie. The organization comes first for the trainer. Groningen does not give much away, so that they do not have to score a lot to win matches. Arjen Robben could probably boost the attack, but the former Bayern Munich player is still not available. "There are still a lot of steps to be taken, and so we have to be patient," Robben tempered possible expectations of the supporters on the club site.
