The month of January started well for FC Twente, with a 1-4 victory at FC Emmen. But since that three-pointer, things have gotten worse for Ron Jans's team. Midweek, Twente was unable to win for the fourth game in a row. On a visit to Rotterdam, at Sparta, the Enschede team played a 0-0 draw, in a match that was by no means full of highlights. 'We don't like the game of Sparta, and that is why I am satisfied,' Jans told Twente's own media afterwards. "To win these kinds of duels we have to be on the ball better."



Jans therefore indicated in which area Twente can still improve. The Tukkers are still in a handsome seventh place, with 29 points from nineteen matches. The coming weeks will have to show whether Twente can compete for the playoff places, or whether it drops to the middle bracket. Wout Brama and Jayden Oosterwolde are still missing from the selection of Jans, just like the longer absent Vaclav Cerny. For the rest, the coach has access to a fit group of players.

 
 
 
 
 
 

SC Heerenveen had not succeeded since November 1 of the previous year; booking a competition victory. Last Wednesday, however, an abysmal series came to an end. An uninspired playing Feyenoord was treated to a 3-0 defeat in the Abe Lenstra Stadium. Heerenveen did not even have to reach his highest level to be able to add the big home victory. The victory brought Heerenveen to 25 points, which puts them in the left row.



Like many other clubs, Heerenveen is having a hard time as a result of the Covid-19 measures. 'Although there is football, but in front of empty stands, and that has major consequences,' said chairman Cees Roozemond this week. 'The future is at stake; I hope everyone realizes that. ' Heerenveen is largely dependent on transfers for income. Joey Veerman is a logical candidate for a sale in the coming transfer window. The midfielder is going through a strong season and could bring in a good amount.
