Telstar - Maastricht Prediction, Picks and Taips

On Sunday evening, Telstar and MVV will compete against each other in Velsen. Telstar has a good start, while MVV received a huge beating last week.

Telstar finished nicely in the middle bracket last season and that is an excellent performance for a team with the capabilities of the White Lions. Every year the team is faced with the task of raising a representative team with a small budget and this logically goes by trial and error. Every year the team manages to pick up a few gems from the amateurs and then let them take a nice step. In that capacity, Reda Kharchouch made a transfer to the Eredivisie thanks to 20 hits for Sparta. Elia Tavsan was also promoted to NEC after he made an impression in Velsen. This year, too, a few gems seem to have emerged. Iliass Bronkhorst was taken over from the Royal HFC as a defender two years ago but has been at the forefront since this season, promptly resulting in three hits in two games. He scored twice on the opening game in-house against FC Volendam (2-2) and he was also accurate last week in the away against FC Eindhoven (2-3). The other two hits were provided by Shayne Pattynama. Telstar only lost one match in its own Rabobank IJmond Stadium this calendar year. This happened against NEC and immediately with 1-7. The White Lions have had little to fear in-house from MVV in recent years. Only one of the last eight home games with the Maastricht team was lost.

The story of MVV is well known: the people of Maastricht already had little to spend, had to take a step back due to the Corona crisis and work with a very limited player budget. The new trainer Darije Kalezic is not to be envied and occasionally looks jealous at fellow provincial Roda JC, where the municipality once again saved the club from ruin and yet another investor has risen. MVV started the season well with a 0-0 draw on a visit to Almere City, but could not continue this good start at home against Cambuur. In their own Geusselt, the Star Bearers suffered the biggest home defeat in club history and it became no less than 1-7. Now the difference in strength between Cambuur and MVV is of course obvious, but the way MVV was led to the slaughterhouse hurt the eyes. As a result, a number of adjustments can be expected in the setups. Newbies Mike Havekotte and Gaston Salasiwa started on the bench last week, but will most likely start now. Zak Swanson and Koen Kostons fell completely through the ice last week and have to fear for their place. Timo Stavitski is back after international obligations and Jelle Duin is heading for his first starting place.
