Sweden - Portugal Prediction, Picks and Taips

Sweden will cross swords with Portugal on Tuesday evening in its own Friends Arena in Solna. You could call the Nations League a glorified friendly tournament, but Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't matter. He is in fact on the hunt for a historical record.

Sweden could look back on a creditable game in and against France last weekend, but was left empty-handed due to a goal by Kylian Mbappe just before half-time: 0-1. The team of national coach Janne Andersson will therefore have to grab points at home against Portugal if it wants to play a significant role in this edition of the Nations League. Performing in the Nations League would be great, but Sweden's real focus is of course on next year's European Championship. The selection of the blue-angels is above all very solid and can make it difficult for any opponent based on a healthy portion of fighting spirit, but since Zlatan Ibrahimovic's international retirement, the team has lacked that little bit extra. Perhaps that former Willem II attacker Alexander Isak can follow in his footsteps in the long term, but for the time being he is of course not even allowed to tie Ibracadabra's laces. The fact that Marcus Berg is now the Swedish attack leader speaks volumes in that regard.

European champion Portugal beat vice world champion Croatia last weekend with no less than 4-1, and thus started a new season in the Nations League. An impressive performance, also because Cristiano Ronaldo had to watch from the stands due to a minor injury. Portugal showed against Croatia that it is more than just Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the superstar has now returned to the training field, and will therefore most likely make his appearance again against Sweden. Despite five Golden Balls and four European Golden Shoes, among other things, his hunger for individual prizes has still not been satisfied. The attacker needs thirteen international goals to be on a par with former footballer Ali Daei, who managed to score 112 times in the shirt of Iran. Knowing Ronaldo, he will not stop until he has broken Daei's goal record. His drive is evident from the fact that he was good for no less than eleven goals in his last six international matches, and he also hopes to get a little closer to Daei against Sweden.
