Sunderland escaped relegation. Rafa Benitez has rescued Newcastle
Last matches of the 37th round of Premier League have cleared the situation of the three relegated. Sunderland defeated Everton 3-0 and so secured 17th place, first over the line, with one round left to play. A demoted Newcastle, which Benitez never managed to rescue her.
Four points separate them in two rankings, Newcastle is 18, 34 points, same as Norwich, who's 19, while Aston Villa's last 17 points. Van Aanholt and Lamine Kone, a double, scored for Sunderland, Sam Allardice retaining its reputation as the savior.
Newcastle became the most expensive team relegated in British history, spending 80 million pounds on new players this season and is second in the Premier League after Manchester City. English press writes that the club heads now strive to persuade Benitez to stay next season, to attack promotion from the Championship. It's the first relegation after seven years.
