The canaries from Istanbul have a rather uncomfortable journey during the week. The second in the table in the Süper Lig is visiting the home-strong Sivasspor, who will also benefit from the unfamiliar weather conditions on Thursday evening. In the meantime, last year's third in the Süper Lig ranked in the lower third of the table, among other things due to the double burden from the Europa League. Since the "Yigidos" left the international competition, things have improved a bit. Almost two weeks ago Sivasspor prevailed against Gaziantep, most recently an away draw with last year's champion Basaksehir.

The team of head coach Riza Calimbay now wants to underpin this form in the upcoming home game against Fenerbahce. Most recently, Sivasspor remained unbeaten four times in a row in their home “Yeni 4 Eylül” stadium, including home wins over Genclerbirligi (3: 1) and Gaziantep (2: 1). Compared to the last season, when the Red-Whites were the second strongest home team in the Süper Lig, the current record of 2-3-4 is rather manageable. In the entire last season there were only two home bankruptcies.

Fenerbahce is currently riding a wave of euphoria. The last few weeks couldn't have gone any better for the canaries from Istanbul. In the table of the Süper Lig, the team of head coach Erol Bulut is currently in second place, tied with the table leader and city rival Besiktas.

A real coup succeeded in the transfer market with the new addition of Mesut Özil. The ex-Arsenal player will join the canaries during this winter break. To what extent the midfield wizard will strengthen the team after the lack of match practice remains uncertain for the time being.

Further reinforcements cannot be ruled out at the moment, especially on the offensive. Most recently, Erol Bulut had to struggle with great personnel worries, so some players are probably on the sidelines. With 38 goals in 18 games, the goal scoring in the Süper Lig is still impressive.

Anyway, Fenerbahce is currently the strongest away team in the Süper Lig, in nine away games there has been a record of 7-1-1. Fenerbahce received the only defeat away from the surprise team from Gaziantep.

In the last two away games, the second in the table of the Süper Lig prevailed and scored three goals each. Coach Erol Bulut will have to complain about seven absenteeism in Sivas, including midfielder Ozan Tufan who has been suspended from yellow. It is quite possible that ex-Sivasspor player Mert Hakan Yandas will join the starting line-up. There are no other options with the current staff concerns.
