Shakhtar Donetsk - Inter Prediction, Picks and Taips
In group B of the Champions League, Inter of Romelu Lukaku and Stefan de Vrij visits the always dangerous Shakhtar Donetsk. The Italians are the favorites, but the Ukrainians casually won 2-3 at Real Madrid last week and are therefore full of self-confidence.
Shakhtar Donetsk caused a resounding stunt last week by winning 2-3 at Real Madrid. Even before half time, the Ukrainians ran to a 0-3 lead via goals from Tete, Manor Solomon and an own goal from Real Madrid. After the tea, goalkeeper Anatoli Trubin had to give up twice, but the visitors held their own and were therefore allowed to immediately add three points in group B of the Champions League.
Shakhtar Donetsk's stunt was of course received with cheers in Ukraine. Even the most optimistic fan of The Miners would not have dared to dream of this, because the team has been plagued by the corona virus for quite some time. Trainer Luis Castro had to miss so many players against Real Madrid that he was forced to appeal to the youth: no less than eight of the eleven basic players who were at the kick-off in Madrid were younger than 23 years. Also in the second group match against Inter, Castro has to improvise again, although the Ukrainians are of course bursting with self-confidence. Castro will not be pleased with last weekend's disappointing 1-1 draw at home against Vorskla, in which the home team failed to win despite an early red card for the visitors.
Inter crawled through the eye of the needle last week, after last week's visit to Borussia Mönchengladbach managed to escape at the last minute with a 2-2 draw. As is so often the case, Romelu Lukaku was once again the lifesaver for the Italians with two goals. The Belgian striker is working on a very strong series, because he has already scored nine European matches in a row. One of those matches was the 5-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi-finals of the Europa League more than two months ago.
Yet Inter has not really been in good shape lately. The Milanese are already at five loss points in Serie A after five rounds of play, and recently lost the always-loaded Derby della Madonnina against fellow city rivals AC Milan (1-2). Last weekend, however, the Nerazzurri fueled their self-confidence by winning 0-2 at Genoa. Not only did Lukaku take his usual goal again, but the team of coach Antonio Conte also managed to keep the zero for the first time this season. "The point is that we have to be willing to work for each other: defend first, then attack," said defender Danilo D'Ambrosio. "I don't mean that we have to play defensively, but the point is that we have to be in control and not suffer a stupid loss of the ball."
