Oss – Excelsior Picks & Prediction
Oss - Excelsior Prediction, Picks and Tips
Excelsior has a remarkably weak season, but gave the season a little color because it managed to reach the quarterfinals of the KNVB Cup. TOP Oss has performed well in recent months, but seems a bit out of shape.
The team of Klaas Wels did not perform well last season and when the competition was stopped TOP Oss was in sixteenth place. This season, TOP Oss has 25 points after twenty games, putting it in thirteenth place. Yet Wels' selection is not performing badly at all. In fact, there are series that many TOP Oss supporters expected their club to have. For example, there were no losses throughout December and there was an unbeaten series of six matches against teams such as FC Volendam, NAC Breda, NEC and Jong Ajax. The game with Excelsior was, however, lost 3-0.
Last round, there was nothing to see of the good TOP Oss that was shown in recent months. In the home game against - the also changeable - Telstar, the Wels team had no chance. After an opening goal by Shayne Pattynama in the third minute, the Oxen received a blow that they could not overcome. After that, tall striker Glynor Plet went a step further by taking the 0-2, 0-3 and 0-4 for his account. Mart Remans scored a connection goal on a pass from Dennis van der Heijden, but it was much too late for a comeback. It ended in 1-4.
Excelsior can forget the promotion wish of this season a bit. Marinus Dijkhuizen's team has been a title contender for two years and otherwise one of the clubs that wants to return to the highest level quickly. It does not look like that at the moment, in fact De Kralingers are even in fifteenth place! Now in the Kitchen Champion Division a strong series is enough to make it to the play-offs, especially after the opening match of the third period won, there is no man overboard, but the performance of the Rotterdammers will have to be better anyway , wants to make something of this season.
The TOTO KNVB Cup is of a completely different order. Earlier this season, Excelsior outclassed Helmond Sport in the opening game, which was beaten 4-0 thanks to two hits by Elias mar Omarsson. Remarkably enough, the same opponent lost 2-1 in the league. The second round even Eredivisionist PEC Zwolle was knocked out of the tournament after the team from Rotterdam managed to win 2-0.
Last Tuesday, Excelsior went on to the quarterfinals with luck. After a blood-curdling 120 minutes, Excelsior and MVV had to prepare for penalties at De Geusselt. Omarsson missed, but because goalkeeper Mike Havekotte came off his line too early, the penalty had to be taken over. The Icelander did not miss that opportunity. Excelsior scored six of the seven penalties and keeper Alessandro Damen took the seventh from MVV, making Excelsior the most surprising name among the last eight in the cup tournament.
