Before the restart, both SV Meppen and SpVgg Unterhaching had legitimate hopes of securing the right to start for the 2020/21 season in the 2nd Bundesliga. Six games later, however, there is pure disillusionment in both camps. The Emsländer only got four out of 18 possible points. The Upper Bavaria just added one point.

SV Meppen ended the first round of the third division in sixth place and was only two points behind the relegation place. It is all the more important that the Neidhart team now puts their defensive strength back on the pitch in their own stadium and also rehabilitates from the recent 1: 5-clap at the second garrison of FC Bayern Munich. Basically, the Emsländer ultimately have the potential to be defensively good, which gives Meppen against Unterhaching a tip on a rather low goal game.

The  Unterhaching was also barely recognizable recently. Remarkable, because the Hachinger, who would have been the biggest loser if the first two teams had received the automatic starting place for the 2nd Bundesliga, if the first two teams had been given the third place, were among the biggest supporters of the continuation of the season.

At first it looked as if Upper Bavaria could become a great profiteer. After all, Haching beat the village club 2-0 to start again, pulled in with Duisburg and climbed onto a direct promotion spot. Five games later, however, the reality is completely different.
 
Also because the red-blue could only score two out of 15 possible points from the last five games, only eighth place is now left. Five points are currently missing in fourth place, which would at least be in the relegation because of Bayern 2's lead.

All the less the men of Claus Schromm are allowed to leave now, who in the English week did not get a threesome against a substitute weakened Mannheim with several aluminum hits. In connection with only one of six possible points against the teams from Münster and Zwickau who are at risk of relegation, the worm is currently in full with the former Bundesliga team.

In principle, however, the recent plight can be justified. The game association, which at Meppen vs. Unterhaching, according to bookmakers' odds, is now even an outsider in the Emsland, paid a high price for the continuation of the season and the tight timing of the games if some key players failed.
