On Friday evening, Levante will be visited by Real Valladolid in its own Ciutat de Valencia. The home club has been in good shape in recent weeks, but is encountering a club in difficulty among the visitors. However, a cat in a corner makes strange jumps.

 
 
 

 
 
    
With three wins and a draw in the last four games in all competitions, Levante has been in great shape in recent weeks. However, the second club of Valencia had to settle for a point with a 2-2 draw against  Cadiz last Tuesday evening, despite two goals from attacker Roger Marti. Trainer Paco Lopez was disappointed by the point loss: "We let the victory slip through our fingers."



Lopez's frustration is understandable, because despite the fact that there is still no audience welcome in LaLiga, Levante mainly has to rely on her home games. With four wins, three draws and only one defeat, De Kikkers belong to one of the better home teams in the Spanish premier class, while they only managed to win once this season. However, the team will have to do without star player Jose Campana for the next three months, who went under the knife earlier this week. Real Valladolid also choked on a in the previous round by playing a 2-2 draw at home against Elche. Trainer Sergio Gonzalez looked back on that match with mixed feelings: "I am proud that my team managed to fight back from a 0-2 deficit, but I am disappointed that we did not manage to win in the end." Indeed, a win would have been very welcome, as the Purple & White are only two points above the relegation zone.



Real Valladolid therefore desperately needs the points, but will be faced with a laundry list of absentees on Friday evening. Roque Mesa, Raul Garcia, Javi Sanchez and perhaps also Sergi Guardiola, Marcos Andre and Waldo Rubio will be absent. Gonzalez works with a relatively narrow selection, so he will have to do a lot of puzzling to put together a respectable team. In terms of playing style, however, not much will change at Real Valladolid. The team always plays from a tight defense, and that will be no different on Friday-evening.
