Jong Ajax - Excelsior Prediction, Picks and Taips

On Monday evening at 17:45 pm, the Excelsior selection will travel to De Toekomst to see if it can score points there. Young Ajax did not start the season as we are used to from them, but perhaps it can beat Excelsior again this season?

The promises from Amsterdam started this season by no means impressive. In the first three rounds there were even lost three times. In the opening round of play, Mitchell van der Gaag received a visit from Limburg's Roda JC. Although the team from Amsterdam were the favorite, the team did not seem to be attuned to each other at all. Players like Brian Brobbey, Naci Unuvar and the Timber brothers did not play. Without these defining players, Young Ajax went down hard 4-0. The evening visiting De Goffert also gave Van der Gaag a headache. After a quick goal against his team came late on the same level via Giovanni, but then gave away a penalty and this game was also lost. After that, they also lost against PSV's peers, despite the fact that they had a red card. It seemed mostly bad luck, because Young Ajax hit the post no less than three times in the second half. Ultimately, they lost 2-1. In the last round of play, it was finally time for Van der Gaag's team to achieve results. Still, an away game against Go Ahead Eagles was not the simplest poster. The Eagles defeated the game round before that surprisingly enough title candidate Cambuur. However, there was no victory against Young Ajax. Kenneth Taylor used a penalty in the first half, while Brobbey doubled the lead in the second half. Go Ahead Eagles also received a penalty kick, but left it unused. Then the team from Amsterdam dealt the final blow via a goal from Victor Jensen in the 94 minute. It became 0-3 in the Adelaarshorst.

The Kralingers had a mediocre season last season and the corona stop might have been a bit better for them. It was quite the question whether Excelsior really had a real chance at play-off football. It was not possible to put down a strong series, but a year later Marinus Dijkhuizen was able to try from the first round. That first round went well and young PSV won with large numbers. After that, the weak defense proved to be still causing problems, as the Ster van Kralingen received no fewer than six goals against Almere City. The club itself scored four goals, but left too many holes. A week later, the regional rerby waited against FC Dordrecht, a team that Excelsior never really liked in recent years. Even now they fell behind thanks to a goal from - old acquaintance for Excelsior - Kevin Vermeulen. Thanks to two goals from top scorer Elias mar Omarsson, Excelsior turned the score around and thus eventually won 1-3 in Dordrecht. Last round, Excelsior had to play against Telstar by Andries Jonker. It went fairly evenly until after half an hour captain Luigi Bruins had to drop out injured on the side of Excelsior. After a dull first half, the teams had just left the dressing room when Joël Zwarts scored 1-0. Sven van Doorm then equalized and from that moment on, the game could go both ways. In the 95th minute Yael Liesdek scored the winning for Telstar. Excelsior once again had a changeable start to the new Kitchen Champion Division year.
