Genk - Brondby Prediction, Picks and Tips

Racing Genk, the quarterfinalist of 2017, is back in the Europa League after a less year. To reach the group stage, the Danish number two of last season Bröndby IF has to be defeated.

Racing Genk was kicked out of the starting blocks this season as a comet. The Limburg team won all their friendly exhibition games (including those against the Greek Olympiakos Piraeus), already four victories in the preliminary round of the Europa League (both the home and away matches against the Luxembourg Fola Esch and the Polish Lech Poznan) and achieved no less than ten points from the first four league matches. The team of coach Philippe Clement is playing this season with a largely new vanguard. In the 3-1 won league game against Charleroi, Zinho Gano, taken over from Ostend, was spearheading, flanked by the Dieumerci N'Dongala rented from Bruges. Genk moved himself a lot on the transfer market. The Limburgers also had a transfer amount for the arrival of the Polish midfielder Jakub Piotrowski, the Romanian defender Vladimir Screciu and the Senegalese midfielder Ibrahima Seck. This means that the share of Belgians in the team is negligible. The game of last weekend was even ended without a single Belgian on the field.

Brondby IF traditionally belongs to the great powers, but the last Danish national title dates back to 2005. Last year the team was close again for the first time in a long time, but by playing and losing twice in the last three league matches from direct competitor Midtjylland (which eventually went off with the championship), the team of German coach Alexander Zorniger had to postpone the title aspirations for another year. Brøndby knew in the previous round to deal with the Serbian Spartak Subotica. After a simple 0-2 victory on Serbian soil, there seemed to be no dirt in the air for the Danes. However, after 10 minutes Joel Kabongo ran into a stupid yellow card, giving the guests a glimmer of hope again. Dominik Kaiser put an end to all aspirations by entering the 1-0. Subotica was still on the same level by Dejan Djenic and then went on to play banque to make the two decisive goals. The goal, however, fell on Danish side: The Polish striker Kamil Wilczek again gave his team the victory.
