FC Volendam - G.A. Eagles Prediction, Picks and Taips
FC Volendam was the tastemaker of the previous Kitchen Champion Division year, but this line was definitely not continued in the season start. Then a match against Go Ahead Eagles is not exactly called for. Which team has the best credentials?
Wim Jonk’s team was the revelation of the Kitchen Champion Division in 2019. The ex-international took over from Hans de Koning and immediately started working on the tactics of the club. Offensive and cared for football had to be shown in the Kras Stadium. That worked and was so rewarded with points that FC Volendam seemed to be aiming for promotion at play-offs. The corona virus changed things and Het Andere Oranje had to start from scratch again in the current season.
After four games, however, it is only four points and that currently keeps FC Volendam in fifteenth place. In the opening round of play, it quickly fell 2-0, but showed resilience to end in 2-2 against Telstar. FC Volendam could draw the necessary confidence from this, but they lost twice in the two home games thereafter. After an attractive pot with 1-3, NEC was too strong for NEC, while Young FC Utrecht - with the necessary first team players - defeated the Volendam players with 0-1. Last round of play therefore had to be achieved against Helmond Sport. In a very tedious pot, the game seemed to end in a draw until 23-year-old substitute Nick Doodeman nodded the ball in in the 92nd minute. FC Volendam recorded its first victory of the season.
Despite the many times that Go Ahead Eagles drew last season, the team of then head coach Jack de Gier was still in sixth place. The post-competition was a real goal and the Eagles were not that far from it. Nevertheless, De Gier left Deventer and Kees van Wonderen took over in turn. With the departure of Gino Bosz, Elmo Lieftink, Soufyan Ahannach, Alexander Bannink, Hobie Verhulst, Jaroslav Navratil and Maarten Pouwels, Van Wonderen could start building a renewed Kowet. An enormous boost was the continuation of Antoine Rabillard. The 25-year-old Frenchman already scored in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, but his best year was last season in the Adelaarshorst. He was important with nine goals and five assists.
Still, Van Wonderen’s team got off to a false start in the Kitchen Champion Division. After a mediocre match, there was a scoreless draw against low flyer FC Dordrecht. Then Go Ahead Eagles shocked the world with a 0-2 win against title contender Cambuur. Is Go Ahead Eagles stronger than last year? Last week it turned out in the Adelaarshorst that the level could be raised. Young Ajax lost the first three rounds and then came to visit Deventer. Still, the Eagles lacked attacking sharpness and after falling behind, the reds had to take more offensive risks. This was at the expense of the defense and the Amsterdam promises made good use of it. Jong Ajax defeated Go Ahead Eagles 0-3 and recorded its first victory of the season.
Right back Boyd Lucassen has injured his knee. The 18-year-old fullback Julliani Eersteeling will make his debut on the side of Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday evening. He is given the task of eliminating FC Volendam winger Ibrahim El Kadiri.
