After round 1, Excelsior is at the top of the Kitchen Champion Division together with NAC Breda. According to the bookmakers, Almere City was the top favorite against MVV Maastricht, but could ultimately be happy with a draw. How does this game go on Sunday afternoon?
 


 


 
 


Excelsior started very strongly at the Kitchen Champion Division this season. Last season, the away game against Young PSV was the final blow to Ricardo Moniz. Thanks to goals from Ahmad Mendes Moreira and Joël Zwarts it went 0-2 into the dressing room. In the second half, Elias már Omarsson scored twice and Thomas Oude Kotte also scored. The score increased to 1-6 and Dijkhuizen let debutants Mats Wieffer and Julian Baas make their debut in professional football. The latter was equally important with an assist.



However, director Ferry de Haan was clear. Excelsior is not a title favorite and is still looking for possible reinforcements. Especially central in the back as a right winger, the Rotterdammers would like to strengthen themselves. The club from Flevoland is perhaps the most ambitious club in the Eerste Divisie, at least the club that reflects this ambition to the outside world. The game went fairly evenly, but it was MVV that had bigger chances. Precisely against a club that has stood still regarding transfers this summer, a victory was expected. Thomas Verheijden and Jearl Margaritha did have opportunities, but in the end the match ended in 0-0. After having scored nine consecutive games, this did not work against the Limburg low flyer.
