Almeria, the team that achieved the first promotion to La Liga (Primera Division) at the end of the 2006-2007 season, has a good chance of returning to the top of the Spanish football scene. It was last present in the 2014 - 2015 season, when it finished penultimate and was relegated. Eight rounds remain and the team from the Mediterranean coast is in 2nd position, one point behind leaders Eibar. Only the top two finishers get direct promotion after 40 rounds.
