Liverpool – Atalanta Picks & Prediction
Liverpool - Atalanta Prediction, Picks and Tips
Liverpool can do good business in the Champions League on Wednesday evening on their own Anfield Road. If the English do not lose from Atalanta, wintering in the European ball of millions is a fact. Atalanta, however, is last year's quarter-finalist, and has some things to put right after the 0-5 earwash three weeks ago.
Liverpool has won all of its group matches so far, so a draw is enough on Wednesday evening to qualify for the eighth finals of the Champions League. With a win, however, the English take a big step towards group victory, and they would also book four Champions League victories in a row for the first time in more than eleven years.
That is easier said than done, however, as Liverpool has been plagued by injuries for some time. Manager Jürgen Klopp has to do it at home against Atalanta in any case without the defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk, so he will have to puzzle again in his defense. So it is certainly no coincidence that Liverpool has already scored sixteen goals in just nine Premier League matches, although the Reds have managed to keep their goal clean in the Champions League so far. Up front, Klopp will likely resort to the usual names again, with Mohamed Salah recovering from corona. The Egyptian was still in quarantine during last weekend's 3-0 win over Leicester City, but was always good for a goal in his last four official games for Liverpool.
Atalanta managed to stunt last season by directly pushing through to the quarterfinals during her baptism of fire in the Champions League, but this season the Italians have a difficult time. The club from Bergamo started this new edition of the Champions League with a resounding 0-4 victory over Midtjylland, but since then it has managed to win only once in all competitions. The club of Hans Hateboer, Marten de Roon and Sam Lammers has therefore dropped to seventh place in Serie A, and wintering in the Champions League threatens to become a difficult story for La Dea. The Italians are currently in joint second place with Ajax with four points, but have a worse goal difference and have to go to Amsterdam next month.
All in all, you can therefore wonder whether Atalanta, which did not get further than a goalless draw last weekend at low flyer Spezia, is ready for the trip to Anfield Road. "It will be difficult," agreed trainer Gian Piero Gasperini, who was recently nominated for the Globesoccer Coach of the Year Award together with Klopp, among others. 'I saw Liverpool play very strong last weekend. A victory over them would make me very happy. ' In any case, the Italians have something to put right, because three weeks ago they received football from Liverpool with an embarrassing 0-5 defeat in-house.
