AZ Alkmaar - Waalwijk Prediction, Picks and Taips
AZ Alkmaar and RKC Waalwijk will be responsible for the closure of the game round this weekend. After five draws in a row, the Alkmaarders finally want to win a league match.
AZ is working on a remarkable and much-discussed series in the Eredivisie. Time and again the Alkmaarders give away a comfortable lead, and lesser opponents are allowed to escape through weak defense. In recent weeks, average teams such as Sparta Rotterdam (4-4), VVV Venlo (2-2) and ADO Den Haag (2-2) stepped off the field with a point after their match against AZ.
AZ managed to win convincingly in last Thursday's Europa League match. Just like in the league matches, the Alkmaarders created many opportunities, four of which were cashed in. Defensively, Arne Slot's team made a better impression, defeating HNK Rijeka 3-1. AZ therefore did good business. After the previous 0-1 victory over Napoli, the red and white are now on six points from two duels, and the prospects for wintering are good. At AZ, there were many absents in recent games due to positive Covid-19 tests. It is not entirely clear who will be available on Sunday.
RKC Waalwijk started this season in an abominable way, which was reminiscent of the previous season, when RKC was the weakest team in the Eredivisie. In the last three league matches, however, the team of coach Fred Grim came out better. For example, RKC drew 2-2 against Feyenoord last Sunday, after points had already been taken in the duels with Heracles Almelo (0-1) and PEC Zwolle (1-1).
The yellow-blue ones were unable to take that good form to the cup tournament midweek. At home against Cambuur Leeuwarden, RKC managed to force an extension through two late hits, but in the end, after penalties, they had to acknowledge his superiority in the club from Leeuwarden (2-2, Cambuur w.n.s.). In the rest of the season, RKC can therefore fully focus on the battle for enforcement. In the match against Cambuur many permanent employees got a rest; Mike Grim, trainer Fred's son, was allowed to start under the bar. It is expected that the saved players will return to the starting eleven of the Waalwijkers on Sunday.
