Leuven - Waregem Prediction, Picks and Taips

Leuven has had an interesting course so far, after which they can almost imagine themselves in the top six. Zulte Waregem has a more difficult time and is in fourteenth place with only seven points. Can Leuven enter the top six by pushing Zulte even further into the deeperic? If there's one thing Leuven didn't do well last season, it was taking points in games where they didn't quite deserve it. They did against Ghent, and they were rewarded with a place in the top ranks of the ranking. How did they do that? By being particularly efficient in the first half. Kamal Sowah and Mathieu Maertens suddenly made it 0-2 in the final minutes of the first half, as a result of which Ghent had to go into the dressing room neglected.

Immediately after the start of the second half, Sowah was able to shoot one more time, making Ghent look up to an almost insurmountable 0-3 deficit. The pivotal figure and main man behind this lead was once again Xavier Mercier. The 31-year-old Frenchman was again good for two assists, bringing his total to five. Add three goals to that, and he is eight (!) Of the eleven goals involved in this Leuven. So a start to the season to be proud of!

Franky Dury is in a pretty dire situation right now. His Zulte Waregem (you can now call it 'his') is not doing well this year. It could only win twice, and that was really against the weaker teams in the competition. Any opponent who was a bit of size was immediately a shoe size too big. Think of Bruges, Charleroi, Beerschot or even a hesitant Genk. The 'problem' is that Dury has a virtually lifelong contract, and the board cannot just get rid of him like we see with other teams in the Jupiler Pro League. So Dury urgently needs to get back together, or leave the credit to himself. Well, I don't think the latter will happen any time soon and that he will do everything he can to get Zulte back on track. After all, he has previously performed brilliantly with Zulte without too many resources. Perhaps the turnaround has already started against Standard. Zulte played a solid match, with Jean-Luc Dompe in one of the leading roles by scoring and giving an assist. Too bad for them, they could not hold the lead and had to give up ten minutes before the end. However, a point on Sclessin is well worth it, especially when you consider their performance in that field over the last few years.
