Sheffield Utd - Wolves Prediction, Picks and Taips

Two clubs that competed for European football for a long time last season and ended up empty-handed meet on Monday evening at Bramall Lane. Sheffield United are starting their second Premier League season in a row, while Wolverhampton is present at the highest level for the third consecutive time.

Sheffield United was last season's seasonal surprise. The Blades were tipped as one of the top relegation candidates ahead of the season. In hindsight, that turned out not to be quite right, because Sheffield eventually finished ninth. The Sheffield United supporters could even dream of Champions League football at Bramall Lane in the first months of the season, but when the prices were really divided, Sheffield was empty. No European football this season at Bramall Lane, but manager Chris Wilder still looks back on a great debut season with his Sheffield. Sheffield's success was due to the collective. Actually, only one player stood out at the steel city club all season, namely goalkeeper Dean Henderson. It is therefore only natural that 23-year-old Henderson could not be hired again from Manchester United this season. Aaron Ramsdale is Henderson's replacement; the 22-year-old line defender from Stoke-on-Trent comes for more than twenty million euros from the relegated Bournemouth. With Max Lowe and Jayden Bogle, Wilder also picked up two talented players from Derby County. Sheffield United played two exhibition games leading up to the new season: The Blades won 0-2 against Lowe's and Bogle's former club Derby and the game against Preston North End ended in a 2-2 draw last Friday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers has slowly but surely grown into a second top player from England. Three seasons ago, the Wolves were promoted to the Premier League and the following season Wolverhampton immediately qualified for the Europa League. In that Europa League, the team of Nuno Espírito Santo reached the quarter finals this summer, in which later winner Sevilla was too strong with 0-1. European football is not in this season for the Wolves, because based on the goal difference, they finished seventh last season. After Arsenal had won the FA Cup, that final classification turned out to be not enough for a Europa League ticket. For Wolverhampton it might also be nice that it does not play European football. Last season was a thrilling season for Nuno's team. The Portuguese does not have the widest selection and Wolverhampton eventually broke up after the corona break. In terms of transfers, things remained quiet in the Molineux: Wolverhampton sold Matt Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur) and Hélder Costa (Leeds United) for nice amounts. That was immediately invested in the 18-year-old talent Fábio Silva, because he made the switch from FC Porto for forty million euros. With Vítor Ferreira, better known as Vitinha, Wolverhampton has also hired a 20-year-old Portuguese talent from FC Porto. Just under a month ago, Wolverhampton played in Germany in the quarter finals of the Europa League and due to the short rest period, the Wolves have decided not to play exhibition games in the run-up to the new season.
